Musician Aaron Carter Passes Away at 34

A source close to the family informed NBC News that singer-rapper Aaron Carter,

who started performing as a child and had hit albums starting in his teen years,

was found dead on Saturday at his home in Southern California. He was 34.

Martin stated in a statement on Saturday that "we are still in the process of absorbing this tragic truth.

According to Deputy Alejandra Parra with the LA County Sheriff's Department,

"deputies responded at 11 a.m. on reports of a medical emergency at the property in Lancaster,

 a desert city located about 70 miles (112 kilometres) north of downtown Los Angeles.

Parra claimed that when the deputies arrived at the house they discovered a body, though she was unable to quickly establish that it was Carter.
